'Shadh' from the Bose family

History: The ceremony of eating the shadh takes place towards the end of pregnancy, probably based on the assumption that if the mother has no unsatisfied carvings left she will produce a healthy child, rice and fish are the compulsory items.

I had the pleasure of having one of my aunts visitng Sacramento who organized the ceremony for me last weekend. It was a great family get-together and some really good food.

Stars, Stripes and lots of people

Yesterday I was sworn in as a citizen of the United States of America. However, I still don;t know what that entailed since the PA system was so bad that we hardly heard what the Judge was saying. So our oath resulted in a mere mumbling of some words out of which I clearly heard the part where I swore to bear arms if needed - no comments regarding THAT one!!! :)
While standing in queue to enter the courtouse, a familiar face popped out amongst the crowd - my friend Sweta. She is a couple of weeks behind me in her pregnancy. What a coincidence! I guess it is true that us 'Desi's' are EVERYWHERE! ;) Shomeek was also there to take some crappy pictures.

My SAD moment in PV

We made a trip to Puerto Vallarta over the 4th of July weekend where we were staying at an all inclusive resort where all I drank for 4 days were pineapple juice and lemonade. The pictures say it all. Nevertheless we had a great time! :)

Going Crazy!

Today started off well with me stopping by Michelle's house in the morning to get several BIG HUGS from Pauline. The rest of the day was crazy - trying to figure out healthcare stuff - doctors, hospitals...etc...etc...
I think I need to mention that Shomeek and I are not happy with my current OB and his office staff and so am trying to find another doctor. Thankfully CJ referred me to a doc who comes highly recommended by one of her friends. I have already set up an appointment for Aug 1st. Looking forward to it.
Shomeek is being very caring at home. Which reminds me - I called Baba(my dad)this morning to give him the news. He was super excited which made me very happy. I am looking forward to seeing him end of July.

A very special day!

I feel wonderful to start my blog the day I got the "good news" of being 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I did do the home pregnancy test over the weekend - but wasn't convinced enough and visited the doctor's office yesterday to undergo their pregnancy test. The assistant nurse (I think that's who she was) did the test and told me that the line was very faint and I may or may not be pregnant. That was frustrating as hell! I took the home pregnancy test again last night - and it came out very positive...AGAIN! (that's when I took this picture) When I went in for my appointment today and told her that - she claimed that the line had gotten much stronger just after I'd left and she didn't think of informing me since I had an appointment today anyways and would find out...whatEVER!!!!

I am past all my frustrations now and just plain happy and very very NERVOUS!!!
Lastly - I would like to thank Joy for convincing me to start a blog. :)
